Hunch adds the digits in your birth date and then reduces the total until it maps to a Major Arcana number. If the result is still two digits, we reduce again and keep the intermediate cards as part of the sequence. That is why a date can produce more than one useful archetype.
For example, a result of 19 maps to The Sun. Reducing 1 + 9 gives 10, Wheel of Fortune. Reducing 1 + 0 gives 1, The Magician. Instead of declaring one “true personality card,” Hunch shows the chain and lets you read how those symbols relate.
Other tarot authors use different formulas: some add month + day + full year before reducing, some preserve 22 as The Fool, and some stop at a two-card pair. Different methods can therefore produce different results for the same date. That is a reason to treat the system as a convention rather than an objective test.
